Martin Beard had been a community leader who enriched the lives of those around him, particularly in his capacity as the head of Merstham Park School. His early passing deeply saddened the community, and the memorial garden provides quiet space near the school building to allow reflection on his life and the values which he inspired in others. It was an honour to be asked to design the garden. The garden invites people to be seated within a natural embrace where the school values which Martin inspired are backdropped by the school environment, through coloured etched glass reflecting light within the garden. We sincerely hope the garden provides solace, aspiration and thoughtful remembrance of a wonderful leader.
